Congratulations!!

Zahira College Chess Players recorded outstanding achievements at the Sri Lanka Schools Individual Chess Championship 2025 (Colombo Zonal), organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Chess Association which was held at Ananda College, Colombo from 26^th to 27^th December 2025.

Master M.T. Yusuf emerged as the Champion in the Under 14 category, while Anfaal Rizwan secured the position of Second Runner-Up in the same category.

In the Under 16 category, Master Tameem Husanee achieved the Second Runner-Up position, and M. Salik Rafi was awarded a Merit Certificate, finishing in 7^th place.

In the Under 12 category, Rashdan Jassin was placed 4^th and received a Merit Certificate. Additionally, M.T. Althaf, A. Hasan, M.S. Aaqil Ahamed, and M. Rahmi Mishari were also awarded Merit Certificates for their commendable performances.

Furthermore, Master Khalid Ikram won a Merit Certificate in the Under 10 category, while Master Zahil Kalideen and Zahid Ahamed earned Merit Certificates in the Under 8 category.

Other FIDE rated Chess players—Master Thariq Preena, M. Shazni Shafan, M. Raihan Rilwan, and M. Maahir Marikkar—delivered notable performances by qualifying directly for the upcoming Provincial Tournament.
