World Environment Day 2026

World Environment Day 2026

To mark World Environment Day on 5th June 2026, a special assembly was held at Ghafoor Hall, creating awareness among students and staff about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living. Following the assembly, a tree-planting programme was conducted within the college premises.

A Rambutan plant was planted on the college lawn by Ms. Kulawathi (Guest) under the guidance of the Principal, symbolizing Zahira College’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.

As part of a collaborative environmental project, three Papaw plants were also planted near the IT Building by Ms. Shihnaz Badurdeen (Head of Co-Curricular Activities), Ms. Erandi (MIC of the Young Farmers’ Club), Ms. Ishara (MIC of the Environment Society), and Mr. Neel (MIC of the Green Zahira Society). This initiative was jointly organized by the Young Farmers’ Club, Environment Society, and Green Zahira Society, demonstrating the collective effort of students and teachers in promoting environmental stewardship.

The programme served as a meaningful reminder of our responsibility to protect and nurture the environment for future generations.

“Together, we grow a greener Zahira.”
