Sir Razik Fareed is the son of Wapchi Marikar Abdul Rahman, ex-MLC (1868–1933), and paternal grandson of the famous Ceylon Moor building contractor in Colombo, Arasi Marikar Wapchi Marikar (Bass) (1829–1925), who was descended from the Sheiq Fareed family who arrived in Ceylon in 1060 AD.
